Website Hosting
What is Website Hosting? Domain? Bandwidth? Why do you need it?
Once your website has been created it will need to be hosted on a web server. This means that your website files will need to be stored on a computer server that is accessible to the internet 24/7 in order for people to view your website. In order for your website's files to be found you will need to have a dedicated website address that specifically points to your website's folder on this server. This dedicated address is called a domain (i.e. www.yourwebsite.com). Just like how files take up disk space on a computer, your website files will also take up disk space on your web server.
Fortunately, most internet files are relatively small (text, html pages, and small graphics) however having things such as flash, downloadable pdfs, video, and multiple email accounts will increase the amount of disk space your web server will need. When a viewer visits your website, your web server will need to transfer your web files from the server, through the internet, and into the end viewers computer. The size of the files, as well as the frequency they are being transferred, is measured by in bits by how much data is transferred. This is called bandwidth. Using very large files or getting a high amount of traffic to your website will increase your bandwidth requirements.
Our Silver package is the best fit for a business building a small website in the 5 - 15 page range with occasional modifications. We can always add domains, increase disk space, and increase bandwidth later. You may also upgrade your hosting package later when you are ready to start building onto your website more consistently. However, clients can rest assured that any support issues from our end (relating to host server malfunctioning or website functionality errors) shall not be subject to the 30 minutes cap and will be fixed promptly regardless of duration.
